FEVER
- Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus.
- Dengue virus is transmitted by female mosquitoes mainly of the species Aedes aegypti and, to a lesser extent, Ae. albopictus.
- Dengue fever, also known as breakbone fever.
Cause: Aedes mosquitos
Symptoms
a. High Fever b. Nausea c. Vomiting d. Pain behind the eyes
e.
Muscle Pain and Severe Joint pain f. Headaches g.
Fatigue
h.
Skin Rash(Appears two to five days after the onset of fever)
i.
Mild Bleeding (Nose bleed, bleeding
gums,easy bruising)
j.
Swollen glands
Blood
tests to check for viral antibodies or presence of infection
There is no
specific medicine to treat dengue Fever. If you think you may have dengue
fever, you should use pain relievers to reduce fever, headache,
and joint pain. Aspirin and ibuprofen can cause more bleeding and should
be avoided.

Prevention
· Treat clothes with
repellents like permethrin.

Use mosquito repellent indoors and outdoors
·
Consider using
mosquito netting if you will be in an areas with many mosquitoes.
·
Avoid areas with
standing water. Especially at times of high mosquito activity like dawn and
dusk.
·
Wear long-sleeve
shirts and long pants.
·
Make sure windows and
doors screens are closed to avoid allowing mosquitoes into inclosed spaces.
·
Use EPA-registered
mosquito repellent like DEET.
